Screencaps is here.

According to his friend Jeff, The opening of Denis Forest's art show was Friday 15 March 2002.
He arrived late for the opening because he had been shooting his new film, Detonator. He was very happy to see many friends all there.

That following Sunday Denis requested to have Jeff re-frame the painting he had in the window of the art gallery. He wanted a different painting. Denis sat with Jeff while he worked on the frame and they visited for a few hours. They spoke of many things during that time.

After, Denis took Jeff to dinner in thanks for re-framing his art.

Shortly after dinner Denis' heart began giving him problems and by the next day he passed away. That was 18 March 2002. Denis was only 41.

After he was gone.... his father came to Los Angeles, at that time his art show was re-opened. This video was taken then.

I heard from his family and his friend Paula that Denis did want his art to be known to the world. You should appreciate his wonderful art! If you were impressed by his art, you can report it on your web site. It would be great!

Homage to Denis Forest

Sunday, August 29th, between 2 and 5 pm at 150 St.Patrick Street, Ottawa
The Exhibition is held from August 25 to September 6, 2004
Gallery Hours: Wednesday through Sunday, from noon to 5:30 pm

---------------------------

Native of Ottawa, Denis Forest started his artistic career as movie actor. In Hollywood, he acted in many films and had the opportunity to work with Sylvester Stalone in "Cliffhanger" (1993) and Arnold Schwarzenegger in "Eraser" (1996). A complete artist, he painted sculpted and also wrote scenarios. He died suddenly in 2002 at the age of 41.

The works presented in the exhibition are encaustic paintings on handmade paper, enlightened with gold leaf. Like an alchemist, he vombined wax, oil pigments and gold leaf to create abstract icons (without figures), which possess a real power of attraction. Galerie d'art Jean-Claud-Bergeron presents Denis' latest works as an Homage to him and to give the public of Ottawa an opportunity to appreciate the talent of a great artist.

As an acclaimed emerging artist, Denis' paintings and sculptures have been exhibited and permanently William Turner Gallery in Venice, California, Bedlam Art in Los Angeles, the Laguna Museum of Art, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and DeVorzon Gallery in Beverly Hills.

In his personal life, Denis was an engaging, sensitive, spiritual, kind, funny and extremely intelligent and enlightened person. Denis' special interests included poetry, literature philosophy, art , film, yoga and alchemy which held a special intrigue for him and figured profoundly in his painting. Denis was truly a Renaissance Man in the classic sense.

Denis passed away suddenly in his Los Angeles home on March 18, 2002. An incredibly talented actor, writer and artist, a wonderful and inspiring friend who left us too soon, a ray of light - that is how Denis will be remembered by those who had the good fortune of knowing him.

Attention:
About the day of Denis died....
His friend that lived in L.A. said it was 18th, but his family said it was 19th. I think that it might be time of difference because there is a time difference of three hours between EST and PST. But I cannot yet confirm time of Denis death.

The date of this page wrote in accordance with the day by Jeff wrote. Thank you for your understanding.

ABOUT ARTS OF DENIS FOREST

"Denis was a talented Fine Artist (Painter, Sculptor, Installation Artist) as well as a Performing Artist (Actor).  His passion in the Arts really and truly was for his creative 'Works' using paints, and/or sculpting and designing installation art presentations.   Denis was a highly spiritual person, and in the Galerie of Jean-Claude Bergeron Collections in Ottawa, the Acrylic works of Denis' Paintings, you will be invited to experience and share in Denis heart and his philosophical thoughts that were everso entwined in the mysteries of the unknown.  Denis paintings is where he exposes his deep Roman Catholic heritage, intrinsically acknowledging his role as a child of God in the Holy Trinity, and also where he reaches for more understandings of the mysteries in the individual within the role of our human existance".

By Paula du Hamel Yellow Horn, Denis long time friend, August 2006, Ottawa, Canada.
