He performed an act in a talent show, where he rode his bicycle around on the stage, then down an around the auditorium to the music from Queen - "Fat Bottom Girls" (if I recall properly). This was in 1979.
I never realized he became such a prolific actor in such big movies. I spotted him once on X-files, and one movie, but wow! I'll have to rent some of these movies again.
I'm also sad to discover he passed away six years ago! It's a shame - looks like he was moving up to be a leading actor.
Although their other song "Fat Bottom Girls" does have a reference to "Ride your Bicycle", Denis did his skit with "Bicycle Race" - including ringing his bell as is done in the song. Only Denis could dare a silly skit like that and pull it off!
Hello Marc D'Aoust! Thank you very much for precious informations! WOW! I guess that his act seems funny and so cute, and I really want to see it. Was this talent show aired on tv in Canada?
Six years have passed since he died... It's always too sad. Denis will truly be missed.
I love all of his works! Denis' performance is always great!! My recommendation is "New Crime City", "Brisco County, Jr" and "The Tadpole and the Whale". Thank again!! Miyoko (aka spaceman)
Hello Miyoko; I scanned the photo of Denis performing his skit on his bicycle on stage. It's from the 1979 high school yearbook. He is wearing a hockey helmet and knee pads and plaid pants (unusual)...trying to look odd. He rode around the stage when the Queen's song started playing, and then rode down the stairs to the audience seating area and rode around the aisles until the end, ringing his bicycle bell along the way. Very goofy and showed he enjoyed entertaining people.

I met Denis sometime around 1982. We both attended Ryerson then worked together at Oakham House the campus community center. We found out latter we even lived on the same street (Howard Ave) He was a good person and a good friend. Always ready with a smile and a handshake. I am proud to have known him.
I remember Denis from DeLaSalle High school in Ottawa. He was always artistic in everything he did. I remember seeing him in movies and thinking I knew him when. Pretty cool. I was shocked and sad to hear of his passing. He was a great actor but I'm no surprised, everything he did he did well.
i just wanted to say that i was glad to see this tribute site. it's a bit cluttered and hard to navigate but it's mission is pure and sweet. i appreciate your wonderful efforts to recognize the man and his work and to keep his memory alive. thanks for caring.
I want to convey how superior as an actor and as an artist Denis was. But I know well that it never extend to his amazing talent and his splendid ability in everything. I'm happy if the site is able to help for people to know Denis' wonderful works. His works has really power to impress them. I believe that Denis bring people happiness through his works for ever.
I very much appreciate for your tribute to Denis. It's especially wonderful that you reported about his art works on your blog. THANKS AGAIN!! Miyoko
