31名もの遭難者を出し、「人喰い山」と恐れられた、世界第9位の標高を持つパキスタンの山、ナンガ・パルバット。1953年、登攀難壁と言われた未踏峰ナンガ・パルバット初登頂に挑んだドイツ・オーストリア登山隊と、ベースキャンプの退却命令を無視し、単独、無酸素で登頂に挑んだアタック隊員でオーストリアの登山家Hermann Buhl/ヘルマン・プールが、初登頂に成功し、生還するまでを実話に基づき描いたカナダ作品。

デニス・フォレスト氏はドイツ・オーストリア登山隊のクライマーの一人を演じられています。役名を聞き取れなかったし、エンドクレジットも画質が荒い事もあって私には判別できませんでした。そのため、デニーが演じられた登山家が実在の人物なのか未確認です。

日本未公開作で、ビデオ発売が確認できたのはこの米国版だけです。Amazon.comにはデータがないので、ebay等で探してみてくださいね。
私が持っているものは全篇にかなり大きな音声ノイズが入っていて、映像の方にも少しノイズがありました。状態のいいビデオではありませんが、初めて見つけたビデオなので、それでもゲットできて良かったです！
